THE BRIEF

This Victorian granite home had a beautiful blend of original period features and a contemporary rear extension, including an existing kitchen and spacious open-plan kitchen/diner. The aim was to create a more cohesive, welcoming and functional ground floor while respecting the character of the original property and making better use of the generous existing spaces.

Rather than replacing everything, the design focused on thoughtful reconfiguration, zoning and redecoration. The living room was transformed into a warm and sociable space, while the open-plan kitchen/diner was given greater definition with dedicated dining, lounging and boot room areas. Existing flooring, kitchen cabinetry, sanitaryware, artwork and selected furniture were retained wherever possible, demonstrating how considered interior design can completely transform a home without the need for a full-scale renovation.

The finished scheme brings together traditional elegance and contemporary family living, with a warm, timeless palette, bespoke joinery, layered lighting and carefully selected furniture and accessories creating a home that is both practical and inviting.

SERVICES

A full interior design and project management service was provided for the ground floor of the home, including concept development, space planning and furniture layouts, colour palette and finishes, bespoke joinery design, lighting design and specification, and the sourcing of furniture, lighting and accessories. The project also included the reconfiguration and zoning of the open-plan kitchen/dining space, living room redesign and redecoration, boot room design, hallway, staircase and vestibule redecoration, and downstairs WC redecoration. Verano Interiors also managed the project from start to finish, coordinating a trusted team of tradespeople and overseeing the installation and finishing touches to bring the completed scheme together.
